HIGH SCHOOL
As a high school student, I was very successful at school. I had a 3.83 unweighted GPA, a perfect 800 on the Critical Reading section of the SAT, a perfect 36 on the English portion of the ACT, and six 5s (and two 4s) on AP exams. After graduation, I was looking for a way to make money part-time while I kept going to school, so I turned to tutoring.
MY FIRST TUTORING JOB
My first tutoring assignment was to help a young man from my church with his Geometry class. After a few months of working together, we had raised his course grade from an F to a B. When I saw how much tutoring had helped him, I knew that I wanted to keep helping other students.
WORKING FOR ACADEMIES
From 2012 to 2014, I worked for a tutoring academy in Artesia, CA. I left that academy for another one that offered better pay and working conditions. I stayed at DDIM Academy in Buena Park until I moved from California to Utah in 2024. Over the last 14 years, I have helped hundreds of students with English, math, science, history, Spanish, college admissions personal statements, SAT prep, ACT prep, AP exam prep, public speaking, debate, chess, and even master's degree research papers.
EDUCATION
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Long Beach in 2016, I began substitute teaching while looking for a full-time position. In August of 2017, I was hired full-time to teach math at a high school in Watts. I taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Statistics, and SAT prep. In 2019, I went back to school to get my master's degree, which I earned in Urban Education, with a concentration in Digital Learning.
TODAY
As a tutor, I help students meet their academic goals by working side by side with them to systemically tackle whatever it is they need to complete.
